Earlier this month, LeBron stated in a locker room interview: “For me, as a husband, a father to a daughter, and someone who values the future of this country, supporting Kamala Harris is the obvious choice,”. “Her views on women’s rights and the kind of future I want for my kids make it crystal clear where I stand. And come on, you guys know me. I damn sure wasn’t going the other way.”

Zhuri, Bronny, and Bryce’s father, James, didn’t stop there. He used X to further emphasize his position and make it apparent that his vote was motivated by principle rather than just personal inclination. Although many people applaud LeBron’s political candor, it has also come under fire, especially from those who hold opposing opinions. James’ comments were criticized by Trump fans, and the election results—Donald Trump receiving 312 Electoral College votes to Harris’s total—only served to deepen the political rift.

LeBron, however, saw this as an opportunity to stick to his principles rather than to conform to the views of the majority. His choice to speak up is consistent with his larger activism strategy, which involves utilizing his position to start discussions and affect social change.
