Aaron Rodgers is still without a team in what has become a somewhat forgotten NFL offseason plot. After being cut by the New York Jets, Rodgers has entertained interest from a few organizations and considered retiring. Rodgers seemed to be taking his time making a selection, even though the 2025 NFL Draft is just one week away.
The New York Giants are no longer in the running. For the time being, the Minnesota Vikings have declined. Although the Pittsburgh Steelers are the favorites, it sounds like Rodgers has completely lost faith in them.
Since their previous meeting on March 21, the Steelers have not heard from Rodgers, according to the story released by CBS Sports NFL reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala on Wednesday.
If Aaron Rodgers is not signed by a Super Bowl contender, he will retire
Additionally, Kinkhabwala revealed more information concerning Rodgers’ current state of mind. The 41-year-old quarterback sees himself either retiring or joining a Super Bowl contender. He won’t dedicate himself to a substandard or rebuilding squad.
Aaron Rodgers is 41 years old, has made nearly $400M and is intellectually stimulated by more than football. From every convo I myself had with him about trying to mold/shape/push a Jets team NOT on the brink of a Super Bowl to every convo I’ve had with execs trying to woo him… https://t.co/OwWRdHDFOH

Rodgers essentially requested his release from the Jets, she further discloses. At this stage of his career, he is not interested in competing for anything important, and he noticed that they were not in a position to do so.
The Vikings and Steelers would be considered Super Bowl “contenders” in light of Rodgers’ ultimatum to the teams that are still interested in signing him. Both teams are coached by reputable individuals and have strong lineups. Whether they believe Rodgers has enough left to lead them to the Big Game is the question.
