Aaron Rodgers Decides to Stay at the Jets on a Reduced Salary

The New York Jets are not only out of the NFL postseason picture, but they are also going through a reorganization and are forced to decide whether to cut or keep veteran Aaron Rodgers, who is prepared to make some sacrifices in order to remain in the Big Apple.

The Jets are currently 4-11 after 16 weeks and will discover their draft position after the regular season. Due to allegations of a bad connection between Aaron Rodgers and Robert Saleh, the Jets fired Saleh during the season, and Jeff Ulbrich took over as head coach.

Ulbrich served as the defensive coordinator for the team.

Staying with the Jets is not ruled out by Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers stated in an interview with The Pat McAffe Show that he would be prepared to take a salary cut and assist in mentoring the new players selected in the Draft, even if the Jets are still in the process of rebuilding for the upcoming campaign.

He said:  “I think there’s a world where they just say, ‘Hey, thanks, we’re going to go in another direction’ on January 6… I think there’s also a possibility that we wait and see who the new members of the team are.

“I haven’t decided whether I want to play in the future or not and I haven’t been told what their plans are… If the new staff came in and wanted me to be there and also made a selection for the future, then of course”

Although the former Green Bay Packers quarterback expressed interest in staying with the Jets, Rodgers admitted that his future is still up in the air and that he hasn’t yet discussed his options with team owners Woody Johnson and Christopher Johnson regarding whether to remain with the Jets or consider retiring from the NFL.

The Jets will play the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills, two AFC East rivals.
