What Caused LaVar Ball to Have His Leg Amputated

The dynamic father of NBA guards Lonzo and LaMelo Ball and rising rapper LiAngelo Ball, LaVar Ball, recently talked about what led to the necessity of amputating a significant section of his right leg.

According to the oldest Ball, physicians told him that another surgery was required to remove more of his right leg after issues with his diabetes finally forced the treatment to be done on his right foot.

SLAM was informed by Ball that he had developed an infection in his right foot, which “started spreading through my blood due to not paying attention to my diabetes.”

Ball claimed that initially, doctors were attempting to prevent amputation, but they were left with little choice when their prior treatments failed. Ball said to the publication: “They cut off my foot,”. “Then, they said, ‘We gotta go almost knee-high for another surgery.’”

In order to resolve the issue, Ball required three separate operations and four blood transfusions. Ball had a pessimistic outlook, as one might anticipate given the seriousness of the surgery and its effects on the remainder of his life. He said: “It made me think, ‘Man, just kill me and let me go about my business,’”. “It made me think that maybe it’s time for me to shut it down.”

Ball claimed that his sons were crucial in helping him get through this difficult time in his health, and it appears to have been successful. Ball’s humorous nature became apparent on social media when he shared TikTok videos claiming to be able to grow his foot back.
