Deion Sanders’ heartfelt homage to Mom Connie

Deion Sanders is paying the greatest homage he can to his mother, Connie Knight, by dedicating his upcoming Nike sneaker to her.

The 57-year-old coach of the Colorado Buffaloes has always gone above and beyond to care for the woman who reared him, and they still share a unique bond.

Deion’s parents separated when he was just two years old, and he was raised in Fort Myers, Florida. His mother and stepfather, Willie Knight, reared him in a difficult environment; he would later confess that he felt “ashamed” since she worked as a hospital floor sweeper. He then promised to create it one day so she wouldn’t have to work ever again. And he did.

In his NFL playing days, the man known as “Prime Time” made over $30 million with the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens. He also earned an additional $13 million in Major League Baseball with the New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and San Francisco Giants. He currently has a $29.5 million, five-year contract with Colorado. Not to mention innumerable endorsement agreements, such as one with Nike.

Speaking of Nike, Deion’s newest sneaker, which pays tribute to his mother, is scheduled to launch on May 7. “Love Letter to Connie” is the name of the new DT Max 96s, which will be all-red with a white Nike swoosh for the lettering.

Great-grandmother Connie deserves this accolade, and Coach Prime, who is now a grandfather himself, made a heartfelt gesture. For the family, that is some legacy material.
