Larsa Pippen, ex-wife of NBA star Scottie Pippen, and Marcus Jordan, son of basketball legend Michael Jordan, are ready to set the record straight about their unexpected love story.

In the premiere episode of their captivating podcast, "Separation Anxiety with Larsa and Marcus," the duo delved into the details of how their friendship evolved into a romantic relationship, shedding light on the challenges they faced along the way, especially since there's a 16-year age gap.

"I didn’t want anyone to know when you’d call me," Larsa, 48, admitted, explaining how she saved Marcus' phone number under the fake name "Marc Jacobs" because she didn't want people to know they were conversing. The couple's connection, which began four years ago at a party, remained concealed as they navigated their blossoming friendship.

"I figured this was off limits. It was not something I wanted to go to war for," "The Real Housewives of Miami" star confessed, reflecting on the doubts she had due to her history with Scottie Pippen, her former husband and Marcus' father's former teammate. The possibility of facing criticism made her question if pursuing a relationship with Marcus was worth it.

"I don’t think there was ever any hurdles, I just think there was some shock value to the fact that we were dating. Caught maybe some people on my side of the family off guard a little bit," Marcus shared about his family's response to him dating Scottie's ex-wife.

"It caught me off guard! I get it. I understand," Larsa chimed in, acknowledging the initial surprise surrounding their relationship.

"I think once people really got to understand and see us together, it made everything a little more comfortable. My parents want to see me happy. Your family wants to see you happy. That’s all you could ever ask for," Marcus emphasized, highlighting the eventual acceptance and support they received from their families.

In January, Larsa confirmed their relationship on Instagram, captioning a photo of them standing in front of a Michael Jordan jersey with "Checks over stripes," referencing MJ's longtime sponsor, Nike.

Elsewhere in the episode, Marcus said it’s a “common misconception” that Larsa used to babysit him, as many believed the two knew each other long before they were introduced, but that's not true.

“I feel like a lot of people thought we knew each other our whole lives,” Larsa said. “Like I threw your fifth birthday or something — no.”

From the foundations built through FaceTime and texting to spending holidays with each other's families, Larsa and Marcus gradually merged their lives.

Clarifying speculation about their intertwined histories while chatting with ET Canada, Larsa revealed, "I feel like a lot of people don’t know this, but when my ex and [Marcus'] dad played together, I was in college. It was my senior year in college. So when they played together, I was only there for one year. It wasn’t like I was there for the whole dynasty. I wasn’t a part of all that."

Marcus candidly shared his family's reaction, saying, "I think there was a little bit of shock value at first. But my dad, you know, he tells me all the time, ‘Look, you’re an adult.’ You know, you can make your own decisions, do your own thing. And so, I just feel like he wants to see me happy."

Larsa expressed her uncertainty about Scottie's reaction, noting that she never sought opinions on her romantic choices after their separation. She emphasized, "I think we both want to be happy and want each other to be happy. And I think that’s the most important thing."

In an interview with US Weekly to promote their new podcast, Larsa gushed about how her kids love him.

“[My kids], they love Marcus. Like, they love him and I feel like we talk about the same things. So when I’m talking to my older son Scotty about basketball, Marcus is in on the conversation. [Then when I am] talking to my son Preston about fashion, Marcus has a clothing store — he has a boutique — so he chimes in. It is just an easy fit for our family,” she told the publication.

Larsa shares four kids with Scottie Pippen, inlcuding sons Scotty Jr., 22, Preston, 21, and Justin, 18, and 14-year-old daughter Sophia.

Marcus said, "I feel like her children are a little older in age. I feel like if you’re dating someone with younger kids, then maybe you need to instill your perspective on them in a different way. But I feel like Larsa’s relationship with her children — she’s best friends with them. They talk every day. And so, it’s one of the things that I admire about her.”

He continued, “For me, it’s more [like] I’m a fly on the wall. They have their conversations and wherever I can chime in that makes sense — I try to do so,” he added. “But I think because we’re closer in age, I think that that we have a lot in common. I’m just happy that they’ve received me so well.”
