Ahead of his tenth NFL season, Tyreek Hill, the great wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, has talked candidly about his mental health issues and the actions he has taken to treat them.
Tyreek Hill had the worst season of his career in 2024, a year after he led the NFL in receiving yards (1,799) and touchdowns (13). The future Hall of Famer averaged 56.4 yards per game, which was his lowest since his debut season in 2016. He caught 81 passes for 959 yards and six touchdowns.
However, Tyreek Hill had a difficult and emotionally challenging year as a result of the off-field occurrences.
Hill was stopped and taken into custody by police for a driving infraction while traveling to Miami’s Week 1 home opener versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite making no hostile gestures or using any threatening words, police bodycam film showed Hill being removed from his vehicle, put on the ground, and detained. A police officer involved in the detention was put on administrative leave.
Tyreek Hill speaks about his mental wealth
Tyreek Hill’s mother-in-law called the police last month to report a domestic argument between Hill and his wife, Keeta. Keeta promptly filed for divorce after no charges were brought.
In order to address his mental health issues, Hill recently began going to church and therapy, according to ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques:
“It’s tough. Only thing I’m going to say is, man, money is a crazy thing for a lot of people. But I mean for me, we just going to let the details just handle itself, you know what I’m saying? Because at the end of the day, the truth always comes out, right? My job is just to be a great father to all of my kids and be the best player I can be and be the best leader I can be for these guys in this locker room, man. So, I’m going to stand strong on that and I’m going to stand firm on that.”

Hill emphasized that head coach Mike McDaniel is attempting to develop “a better understanding of” the Dolphins’ culture after implying that he wanted to be traded after Miami’s Week 18 loss (he famously told reporters, “I’m out, bro”). “Everyone’s on the same page” as he enters his age-31 season, Hill continued.
