Luka Doncic was apparently dissatisfied with his social habits, which included drinking beer and smoking hookah on a regular basis, according to the Dallas Mavericks.
A report from The Athletic claims that a number of Mavericks organization personnel felt that the 25-year-old All-Star’s off-court behaviors were problematic.
It was reported that a number of people referred to Doncic as “lazy” and expressed concern about his weight fluctuations. His penchant for drinking beer and smoking hookah had reportedly been a persistent issue, and team executives thought his career would soon be in ruins.
As stated by Sam Amick of The Athletic: “Make no mistake, the people who witnessed Doncic’s last days in Dallas do not paint a flattering portrait of the 25-year-old’s professionalism,” “They call him lazy. They talk about the weight issues that were such a frequent frustration within their walls.”
“They predict his basketball demise, highlighting a health history that, as some see it, will likely lead to catastrophe in the next five years or so.”

The move caused a stir in the league and drew harsh criticism from Dallas supporters.
However, when the Mavericks played the Lakers on Tuesday, losing 107-99, Los Angeles fans chanted “Thank You Nico” at Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison inside the Crypto.com Arena.
With a strong stat line of 19 points, 12 assists, and 15 rebounds, Doncic exacted retribution on his former team. Luka said in a postgame interview that it will take some time to move on from the trade.
Dončić stated: “The closure is going to take awhile, I think,” “I don’t know, it’s just not ideal. Like I said, I’m glad this game is over. There was a lot of emotions. It will go, little by little. Every day is better.”
