Nigerian songstress Tems has had enough of unsolicited commentary about her physique.
Full story below…
Following her dynamic performance at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, a video clip circulated online, prompting a wave of body-shaming remarks. One user commented:
“Real one knows she just has big laps, not actual a*s.”
This sparked a widespread discussion. In response, Tems took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the criticism head-on. She wrote:
“Okay 7 years in. It’s time to pack it up.
I never thought I’d need to say it but you are all weird. “It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat.”
Dog ITS MINE. “Show us your bumbum” lol so me too I will turn and say “see”
Nah show ME yours first?? See how that feels? It’s just a body I will add and lose weight.
I never once hid my body, I just didn’t feel the need to prove or disprove anyone.
The more you don’t like my body the better for me actually.
But it’s enough now. Move on from my bum.”
Her fans rallied behind her, praising her for standing up against the negativity and emphasizing the importance of focusing on her artistry rather than her appearance.
Moral of the story: don’t come for Tems if she did not send for you, and that’s on body positivity.
Your thoughts?
