Skip Bayless returns with another insightful analysis, this time regarding Indiana Fever second-year WNBA player Caitlin Clark. The league established records in 2024 for both TV ratings and attendance, and Clark has been credited with generating more interest in it since her inaugural season last year.
Although senior players should be thrilled about the increased visibility, which should help the WNBA make more money, Bayless contended that he has observed the reverse. He blamed the league’s inability to fully capitalize on Clark’s superstar status on what he sees as “jealousy” from other players.
Because it was a home game for the Fever, Bayless agreed with Clark that she was fouled on the play and “earned” the call.

Additionally, he implied that the WNBA was “afraid to protect” Clark by issuing the call out of concern for how other players might have interpreted it. He said on his podcast:
“What? No call? I mean, Caitlin Clark has at least earned that call at home in that moment,”
“…Yet this league office is obviously deathly afraid of an open player revolt, just a revolution against Caitlin Clark, a mutiny against Caitlin Clark. So the refs are given the message. They’re clearly afraid to protect Caitlin Clark from the bully tactics and the excessive physicality inflicted on her.
“Heck, I don’t know. Maybe veteran refs are resentful of all the attention that Caitlin Clark gets. I don’t know. That’s the way it looked on Saturday. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you or letting defenders bite that hand.”
