Shilo Sanders Responds to Criticism by Drawing Comparisons to Donald Trump

Shilo Sanders, the top safety for the Colorado Buffaloes, has drawn criticism for his recent remarks in which he likened himself to the perpetually divisive President Donald J. Trump.

According to Joe Bonham:  “Shilo Sanders addresses the haters saying how they paint him in a bad picture. “They do that to our president, they do it to everybody”. He added the clips were cherry-picked and said scouts will look at how he played today and this season.”

After demonstrating his abilities in front of NFL scouts at the East-West Shrine Bowl and then tagging it with an odd reference to Trump, Sanders concluded his collegiate football career with a daring statement.

Despite facing a difficult defeat for the West team (25-0) versus the East, the Buffaloes safety demonstrated his skills on the field by finishing with six tackles and one pass deflection.

Shilo Sanders talks about the criticism he faces

Sanders’ performance was noteworthy despite the defeat; he led his team in tackles and added a pass break-up, making a substantial contribution on both special teams and defense. But Sanders wasn’t content to focus solely on his achievements on the field. He was equally concerned with responding to the criticism of his performance, especially the viral videos that showed his weak points.

He responded to questions about the videos with a belligerent demeanor, likening himself to Trump’s detractors. Sanders said:  “If you just hate me, or you want to hate me… paint me in a bad picture, they do that to our President, they do that to everybody,”

“So I’m not going to be safe from it. But it does get aggravating when you’re putting in work and people are just steadily destroying you.”

Despite some unfavorable reports, Sanders showed no remorse. Reports that he had a bad practice week were immediately contested by him, who referred to them as “false” and “misinformed.”
