Shannon Sharpe Points Out the Rockets’ Only Chance to Stop Stephen Curry

After a two-point first quarter, Stephen Curry nearly single-handedly led his team to victory by dropping 36 of the Dubs’ 104 points.
The Golden State Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets at home in Game 3 after establishing a lead in the fourth quarter, despite the absence of Jimmy Butler. It was a defensive fight the entire time, with only one player scoring 20 points.

If Steph keeps scoring at this rate, Shannon Sharpe is aware that the Rockets have no chance. The two-time MVP can only be stopped by the Rockets, according to the Hall of Fame tight end.

Sharpe emphasized that Curry is constantly on the go, searching for a brief moment of daylight to remove his lightning-fast jumper. Despite their defensive mindset, the Rockets are a young playoff club that hasn’t yet worked out how to stop Curry.

Sharpe stated that Houston would need to keep a close eye on Steph’s actions if they want to avoid trailing the veteran-heavy Warriors 3-1.

According to Sharpe on Nightcap: “[Steph’s] not gonna stop [moving]. So if you think you got him guarded on one side, you better tell the guy. ‘Hey, here he come over to you’ so he can be on his best behavior,”

“Somebody’s gonna set a pick, so you have to watch him. You have to literally keep your eyes on him at all times.” 

Sharpe emphasized how crucial it is to play locked-in defense for 24 seconds throughout each possession. Otherwise, Steph’s flurry of threes might swiftly demoralize the Rockets. He added: “Because if you turn your head for just a second, he’ll backdoor you, or they’ll hit that flare to him in the corner and then now he’s splashing a three in your eyes and you’re like ‘Well damn,’”

If the Rockets want to avoid an unavoidable series deficit, they need to focus even more on the four-time champion.
