RIAA: Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Freaky Girl’ Soars to 2x Platinum

Nicki Minaj not only rocked Billboard history books in August 2022 with the premiere of her #1 hit, ‘Super Freaky Girl,’ but she placed flags at a number of personal milestones thanks to the song’s enduring success.

In fact, by the time the Dr. Luke-produced bop finished its 25-week run on the Hot 100 it ranked as her third longest-charting solo single to date (bested only by the 39-week stay of ‘Super Bass’ and 31-week run of ‘Starships‘).

Its wins aren’t limited to Billboard, however.

After jetting to Platinum status at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) at record speed, it recently one-upped itself in the organization’s rankings.

Details inside.

Taking to press Wednesday (May 9), the RIAA announced ‘Super’ had soared to 2x Platinum – a measure that denotes sales equivalence of 2 million in the United States.

Her 7th multiPlatinum smash as a song leader, ‘Super’ is the sixth-fastest double Platinum-certified hit of her career as only ‘Starships’ (2 months), ‘Anaconda’ (3 months), ‘Super Bass’ and ‘Only‘ (4 months), and ‘High School‘ (7 months) reached the threshold quicker.

The upgrade of ‘Super’ brings her total U.S.-based single sales to 38 million, helping Minaj reign as one of the best-selling female Rap artists of all time.

Among all femcees, only Cardi B (57 million) and Doja Cat (42 million) have sold more digital singles.
