RIAA: Chris Brown Unseats Elvis Presley As Male Singer with Most Gold-Certified Singles

Not even six months after Chris Brown made headlines for dethroning King of Rock N’ Roll Elvis Presley as the Hot 100’s most decorated male singer, the R&B bad boy has snatched the Gold from the music monarch’s RIAA crown as well.

Details inside.

On Thursday (January 5), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) took to press to announce Chris had scored his 56th Gold single with the hit song ‘Call Me Every Day.’

Found aboard his tenth solo studio album, the 2022-released ‘Breezy,’ ‘Call’ is one of three singles lifted from the LP and followed its well-received cuts ‘Warm Embrace (WE)’ and ‘Iffy.’  At writing, however, the Wizkid-assisted bop is the only song from the set to boast any certification.

Its new status at the RIAA pushes Brown’s cumulative single sales to 92.5 million in the United States, thereby extending his position as one of the best-selling artists in digital music history.

The plaque awarded to ‘Call’ also extends Brown’s record of being the male vocalist with the most Gold-certified singles from the RIAA. Upon collecting his 55th award of such stature in October 2022 with the sleeper hit single, ‘Under the Influence,’ the R&B crooner surpassed the previous titleholder Elvis Presley (who currently has 54 Gold records).

Among all male acts, only NBA YoungBoy (93), Kanye West (88), Drake (74), Eminem (72), and Future (68) boast ownership of more Gold records.
