Odell Beckham Jr. Escorted Off Plane By Police After Dispute With Flight Crew, Allegedly Refused To Follow Seatbelt Protocol

Police escorted Odell Beckham Jr. off a flight at Miami International Airport yesterday after the NFL free agent was allegedly going "in and out of consciousness" and refused to leave the airplane when asked. Odell Beckham Jr. was escorted off a plane after allegedly "refusing" to follow safety protocols, and his attorney is speaking out. On Sunday, the free agent wide receiver boarded a commercial flight from Miami to Los Angeles. According to a statement from the Miami-Dade Police Department, police were notified of a medical emergency after the crew became concerned about a passenger before takeoff. Upon the officers arrival, the flight crew asked Mr. Beckham several times to exit the aircraft, which he refused.” According to police, the plane was evacuated and OBJ eventually got off when officers asked him to and did so without incident. The flight took off almost two hours after its initial departure. Sheesh. We’re sure those passengers were irritated by the situation. Odell’s attorney, Daniel Davillier, released a statement saying the entire incident was "completely unnecessary." ”At no time was Mr. Beckham disruptive or combative," Davillier said. Davilier claimed that an “overzealous flight attendant” forced everyone off the plane instead of allowing OBJ to put his seatbelt on. “The flight was delayed after boarding and prior to takeoff. Mr. Beckham fell asleep with his blanket over his head, which is his normal practice for long flights. He was awaken and told that the plane was back at the gate and that he needed to get off the plane because he did not put his seatbelt on when asked. He responded that he was asleep, and that he would put his seatbelt on at that time." As for football, OBJ has not played at all this season as he recovers from a torn ACL, which he injured in last season’s Super Bowl. He’s expected to meet with a few teams who are possibly interested in signing him, which include the Dallas Cowboys, the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants, and Buffalo Bills.
