On Friday, Michael Malone, the head coach of the Denver Nuggets, criticized the Sacramento Kings for firing head coach Mike Brown. According to Bennett Durando of The Denver Post, Malone stated: “They have practice this morning, he does his post-(practice) media, and he’s in his car going to the airport to fly to L.A,” “And they call him on the phone. No class. No balls. That’s what I’ll say about that.”
Here is Michael Malone’s full comment on the Sacramento Kings’ firing of Mike Brown.
Malone said he was shocked at first, then realized he shouldn’t be, “because who he works for. So I’m not surprised that Mike Brown got fired, because I got fired by the same person.” pic.twitter.com/DtE5Sf9QLl

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Brown was let go earlier on Friday during the Kings’ current five-game losing skid. In a temporary capacity, assistant coach Doug Christie took his position.
Malone is somewhat familiar with Brown’s predicament because he was the head coach of Sacramento from 2013–14 until his dismissal in 2014–15.
According to Durando, Malone stated on Friday: “So I’m not surprised that Mike Brown got fired, because I got fired by the same person,”
Brown was fired shortly before the team was scheduled to take a trip to Los Angeles, according to ABC 10’s Matt George. Before he was sacked, he conducted a full practice and spoke with the media for around fifteen minutes. In Sacramento, Brown’s final record was 107-88.
He was unanimously chosen as the 2023 Coach of the Year after leading the Kings to their first postseason berth in 16 years in 2022–2023. Sacramento finished with a 46-36 record the next season, just missing out on the playoffs.
As the No. 12 seed in the Western Conference standings with a record of 13-18, the Kings had a rough start to Brown’s third season with the team.
