Following Kendrick Lamar’s performance during the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, Kid Rock has proposed a conspiracy theory involving former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Some people thought Lamar’s appearance was the worst show ever, while others thought it was fantastic. Having stated that it wasn’t his “cup of tea” during an interview on “Real Talk with Bill Maher,” Kid Rock most likely belongs to the former group.
The 54-year-old said he respected the performance since he knows more about rap culture than most “white people,” even if it didn’t particularly affect him.
Kid Rock believes that Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar owe Colin Kaepernick
As he urged Lamar and Jay-Z to give thanks to the quarterback, the singer also suggested that Colin Kaepernick was involved in Lamar’s status as the halftime show’s main attraction. He said:
“I’ve heard nobody answer this question: how did he get that gig? Jay-Z. What happened there? I think Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar should both send Colin Kaepernick a Bundt cake and a six-pack of beer and a ‘thank you’ note with a bunch of money in it, because without him kneeling and getting everyone’s panties in a bunch over the anthem, self-included, I don’t think that happens,”
Kid Rock credits Colin Kaepernick for paving the way for Kendrick Lamar to perform at the Super Bowl and says Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar should send Colin Kaepernick a thank-you note with a bunch of money in it.

After the NFL and Roc Nation signed an agreement in 2019, there was some apprehension over Jay-Z’s Roc Nation taking over the halftime performance. This was primarily because to Jay’s backing of Kaepernick after his pregame protest.
The league extended the agreement late last year, seemingly pleased with the collaboration. Given that this year’s halftime show had the highest viewership ever, it would be hard to blame them.
