JT Reveals City Girls FLOP Album Led to Solo Career: “Our Project Did SO Bad”

JT is keeping it all sorts of candid about her journey to solo stardom.

And she’s not side-stepping the challenging moments on that path.

Hot on the promotional trail for her first project, ‘City Cinderella,’ the femcee stopped by the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast to dish on her transition from the City Girls to her solo trajectory.

During the chat, JT revealed that it was the underperformance of the group’s last album, ‘R.A.W,’ that ignited her move to go it alone.

Released in 2023, the set opened with 10,000 copies first week and, per JT, caused for no bookings “on the calendar.” The underperformance, she says, necessitated a shift and that’s what she embarked on.

Full story below…

Speaking frankly, the rapper quipped:

“Our project had just did so bad. The calendar was empty. I’ve never seen anything like it. I was like, ‘if I don’t figure out something…’ When you have a team, you build a family. So, you don’t want your team to leave you and go with someone else popping, so wanna work hard so that you can get your team back into position that were in. So I had to focus on rebuilding myself. That’s what it was all about in that moment. Once that project ‘RAW’ didn’t do what it was supposed to do…I mean it did what it was supposed to do, because we didn’t put much into it..

Like, when you get those kind of numbers (and it gets in the media), people don’t want to support that.”

Watch JT’s explanation:

‘City Cinderella’ launched at #27 on the Billboard 200 with 26,000 copies sold first-week and outcharted any City Girls release to date.
