Jermaine Dupri stopped by the Sherri Shepherd Show today and waxed candid about many topics – including his former flame Janet Jackson.

The prolific hitmaker was on hand to promote his new documentary ‘Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told’ – which hit screens on March 21. And during the fun-filled chat, JD dished on everything from the Hulu special, performing at the Super Bowl with Usher, producing Muni Long‘s ‘Made for Me,’ and Mariah Carey.

Shephard also didn’t hold back when quizzing Dupri on his seven-year relationship with the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer.

Speaking about Jackson, Dupri told Shepherd “we’re friends” and went on to add:

“I believe that if you spend years with somebody and y’all can’t be friends, it was never a real relationship. You spend that much time with somebody, you talk to them every day, on the phone all night, what did you do all of that for if y’all can’t be friends?”

He went on to speak on their work together on projects such as ’20 Y.O’ – home to bops such as ‘Call on Me’ and ‘So Excited.’
