Darren Watkins Jr., also known as IShowSpeed, is an internet celebrity who believes he can surpass the best NFL Draft prospects. And to show it, he’s prepared to hit the track.
The 19-year-old is obviously not afraid to get dirty, since he has challenged the Cheetah himself in the past. When Shannon Sharpe asked the internet sensation whether he wanted to “go to the Combine where all the college kids are going to come by next and wanna challenge them?” on the Club Shay Shay podcast, he responded with assurance and without hesitation: “Yes sir. I am serious”
IShowSpeed has a straightforward justification for wanting to outperform NFL prospects. He wants everyone to be aware of their slow speed:
“When I know I’m faster than somebody and people are like, ‘Oh my God they [draft prospects] are so fast!’ I’m like, no. They’re not fast.”
How quick is IShowSpeed ?
The streamer’s athletic prowess is well known. He has demonstrated his abilities on several occasions, most notably when he leaped over moving automobiles. How fast does he believe he can run, then, to defeat the Combine’s quickest man? He IShowSpeed believes he could run the 40-yard in 43 seconds if he had a month to train: “I ran a 4.4 flat last time -and I stopped a little bit. I could maybe run like a 4.3.”
For comparison, Xavier Worthy set a new record for the quickest 40-yard sprint time at the NFL Combine last year with a time of 4.21 seconds.
Sharpe was pleased by the teenager’s self-confidence and asked him why he had never thought of becoming a track and field athlete, even though he was amused by his assertions. Although he “respects track,” Watkins claimed he was destined for something more.
Even though the YouTuber frequently makes news for his stunts and physical achievements, he played football in high school and believes he still has what it takes!
