Megan Thee Stallion has earned praise aplenty from the masses for the stinging “Megan’s Law” reference in ‘Hiss‘ (her recently released diss track reportedly aimed at Nicki Minaj, Drake, and others), but there are a few who haven’t exactly given the GRAMMY winner a round of applause for the lyric.
Chief among the latter group is Richard Kanka – the father of the child the bill is named after.
It didn’t take internet sleuths long to piece together the “Megan’s Law” line in ‘Hiss’ was likely directed to Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty (who made headlines for having to register as a sex offender).
The statute was put in place in the 90’s and requires convicted sex offenders to be identified in a registry after a young girl named Megan Kanka was murdered by a predator.
Taking to TMZ, Richard relayed feeling sour after reading the lyrics to Stallion’s ‘Hiss’ – even branding the tune “disrespectful” and “offensive” for its inclusion of references to his daughter. He told the web site he refuses to listen to the song due to its subject matter and because he doesn’t enjoy Rap.
According to TMZ, Richard is also exploring the idea of filing a lawsuit for emotional damages – a suggestion coincidentally made by singer-songwriter-reality star Moniece Slaughter over the weekend.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday (January 28), Slaughter asserted that Meg’s bars crossed the line and that the Kanka family should consider legal action.
“I’d lawyer up and that video would be snatched from every platform. I’d sue for emotional damages and I’d demand that the bar be changed,” she told her 254,000 followers. “I’d gag order the artist. Period. Don’t profit off my pain or my child’s passing.”

When critics slammed her take, Moniece clapped back by branding the detractors as “idiots.”
At the time of this report Stallion has not responded to the Kankas or Slaughter.
