HATE PARADE: Saweetie’s Critics Sound Off On Rumored Low First-Week Sales, ICY GRL Claps Back

Folks are side-eyeing a few men for criticizing Saweetie’s alleged low first-week sales that haven’t even been confirmed. An unconfirmed rumor started stating that Saweetie’s new EP, The Single Life, is projected to sell only 2,000 copies. Now, everyone has something to say about it. See her response inside… Everybody has something to say about Saweetie! Apparently, a rumor was started that Saweetie’s recently released EP, The Single Life, will suffer low first-week sales, and everyone has an opinion. The Single Life is a musical offering to hold her fans over until she releases her album, Pretty B*tch Music, which was pushed back until she has it finished to her liking. As for her new EP, people are clowning her for alleged low sales. We first have to point out the fact that the projected sales figure came from unconfirmed sources. Blogger DJ Akademiks reported Saweetie’s projected EP sales only reached 2,000 units in its first week, but he admitted he hasn’t verified the numbers:         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by DJ Akademiks (@akademiks) ”Big W or Big L for Saweetie ? (Ps. These numbers haven’t been independently verified by us),” wrote in the caption of an IG post that suggested Saweetie’s EP, which was released November 18th, would only sell 2,000 units. This sparked a flood of criticism and trolling, with people questioning Saweetie's rap abilities. Critics have been offering up their thoughts on why Saweetie has such low sales, but a high number of social media followers. First, DJ VLAD suggested to the “ICY GRL” that if she did an interview on his platform before she dropped her new music, her numbers would have been better. ”If Saweetie did a VladTV interview she would have easily done 10x her first week sales, which was 2000 copies,” VLAD tweeted. “We actually reached out through one of our people and were told "she won't do Vlad". Everybody has something to say about Saweetie!

Blogger DJ Akademiks reported Saweetie’s projected EP sales only reached 2,000 units in its first week, but he admitted he hasn’t verified the numbers:

”Big W or Big L for Saweetie ?

Record producer Sonny Digital joined the conversation, reacting to the rumored 2,000 first-week sales projection. He said the math isn’t mathin’.

”13 million followers, hundreds of thousands likes on all pictures but album sold less than 2000 copies. That’s crazy. The math ain’t adding up," he tweeted.

"If I had millions of followers and my album sold 2k I probably would just delete all my social media cause y’all lying to me," he continued.

”Before I came here to give my opinion I did listen to the album. I actually listened to everything that dropped that day. Just out of curiosity to see what the competition was on,” he tweeted.

Sonny Digital wasn’t the only producer to sound off on Saweetie’s first week sales

Rapper/producer Hitmaka (formerly known as Yung Berg) added his two cents to the conversation, blaming Saweetie’s record label for fumbling her EP release.

”Saweetie selling 2k is bad A&R vibes. Someone’s supposed to tell u this ain’t it!” Hitmaka tweeted. “I also have issues with her having multiple platinum singles & not sticking with same formula that got her here. Someone gotta get fired.”

In 2020, Hitmaka became vice president of A&R at Atlantic Records.

“That’s why I can’t stand analytics!,” he continued. “People couldn’t wait to not have to stand on gut feelings & goosebumps! If it’s trending u sign them & it doesn’t work it takes away being accountable for what u signed. Now u can lean on ‘oh the numbers said’ …… MANNNN FUK ALL DAT.”

”I encourage everyone in the office to really bet on who they sign. This is what I mean if your artist doesn’t win are you prepared to lose with them? Like lose ya Job????? If we all lived by these rules the care would be Thru the roof & a lot of fluff acts wouldn’t be here,” he said in another tweet.

An aspiring artist named Ezra tried to clown Saweetie's sales on Twitter, responding to one of her tweets, “Damn I didn’t know it was only 2,000 pretty b*tches in the world?”

She gathered him right up!

Saweetie took a screenshot of his Spotify profile that shows he has only 1 monthly listener.

”i hope all 2,000 support you babes,” she responded.

Womp!

The album sales drama comes on the heels of rapper-turned-podcaster Joe Budden telling Saweetie she needed to “shut the f*** up” if she isn’t going to confirm or deny sleeping with Offset, Cardi B’s husband. Missed that? Click HERE.

”hate parade… i must be that b*tch!!!,” Saweetie tweeted.

Hmph. *sips eggnog*
