President Donald Trump has officially invited the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House to celebrate their recent Super Bowl triumph.
At a briefing on Tuesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated President Trump will greet the team when they arrive in Washington on April 28. Last month, the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 40–22.
Leavitt stated: “We sent an invitation. They enthusiastically accepted. And you will see them here on April 28,”
Over the preceding few weeks, both parties had openly expressed their readiness to proceed with the ceremonial White House visit, so the invitation − and the Eagles’ choice to accept it − had been anticipated.
On February 24, the team indicated that it would accept a Trump invitation, should one be extended. The following day, Trump declared that “absolutely they’ll be extended that invitation.”
