Cynthia Erivo Praises Ariana Grande After ‘Wicked’ OSCAR Nominations: “No One I Wanted to Do This With More Than You”

With moviegoers and Academy voters, ‘Wicked‘ is popular indeed.

Defying gravity with a whopping 10 nominations (including Best Picture) at this year’s ceremony, the Jon M. Chu-nominated film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical is going into the 2025 Academy Awards as the most-nominated film.

What’s more, leading co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress OSCARs respectively – a feat that comes as a career-first for the GRAMMY-winning latter diva.

After promising to “raise hell” if Grande didn’t get nominated, Erivo (now a three-time nominee) rightfully praised the Pop songstress for her induction into the nominees’ club.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday (January 23), Cynthia shared her elation over nabbing a Best Actress nod.

“Moments like this don’t come along very often, and when they do, it is sacrilege to let them pass by without a moment of gratitude. I am grateful, grateful to @theacademy, grateful to be a part of something that makes people feel seen, grateful to be a cog in the wheel of a piece that makes us believe in magic, grateful to have experienced a dream come true, and deeply deeply grateful for this unbelievable recognition,” she said to her 2.4 million followers on the platform.

Unselfishly, Erivo also showed ‘Wicked’ co-stars and crew some love – namely Grande.

“To my sister, @arianagrande, what a joy it is to be here with you watching as you ascend and amaze and become the actress you were meant to be. Congratulations first time nominee, I’m so so proud of you! There is no one in the world I would have wanted to do this with more than you,” Cynthia shared.

Viewers will find out if the duo will be capturing their respective trophies at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood when the 2025 Academy Awards are televised on Sunday, March 2.
