Colorado Buffs Retiring Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunters’s Jerseys

At the Buffaloes’ spring game on Saturday in Boulder, Colorado, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders‘ jersey numbers will be retired.

The school made public its intentions on Monday to recognize Sanders, the 2024 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, and Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, who is ranked No. 12.

Hunter, who played cornerback and wide receiver, was also named the AP and Sporting News player of the year and received the Walter Camp Award. In his final two seasons at Colorado, he caught 153 passes for 1,979 yards and 20 touchdowns. Hunter’s defensive stats included 16 passes defensed and seven interceptions.

Sanders was named the 2024 Johnny Unitas Award winner for top quarterback in college football. The son of Buffs coach Deion Sanders played for Colorado for two seasons, completing 71.8 percent of his passes for 7,364 yards, 64 touchdowns, and just 13 interceptions in 24 games.
