Chart Check: Bruno Mars’ ‘Hooligans’ Makes Him the First Solo Act To Have A Studio Album Spend 600 Weeks on the Billboard 200

Few vocalists can rival the chart stats of Bruno Mars over the last decade.

When not leading the list of accumulated Hot 100 top 10 hits (among males), he’s spotted in the exclusive club of acts who have spent over 250 career weeks on the same tally.

His Billboard 200 record isn’t anything to shake a stick at either.

Since his 2010 debut effort, ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans,’ he’s never seen an album premiere outside of the hitlist’s top 3.  What’s more, that particular set – which features some of his most beloved hits like ‘Just the Way You Are,’ ‘Grenade,’ ‘The Lazy Song,’ and ‘Marry You’ – looks to be hitched to the chart (with no divorce in sight) given its ongoing tenancy.

Details inside.

Two months after its 12th anniversary, ‘Doo-Wops’ is found at #129 on the refreshed Billboard 200.

The LP’s 600th week of charting, its endurance marks a milestone for Mars and the hitlist overall as he’s the first solo act to watch a studio album enjoy as long of a residency.

Among all performers, rapper Eminem was the first (and only other) solo act to see a project spend 600 weeks on the Billboard 200 when his greatest hits compilation venture, 2005’s ‘Curtain Call,’ crossed the threshold in October.

When all acts are considered, the staying power of Bruno’s opus is only bested by Pink Floyd‘s ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ (962 weeks), Bob Marley & the Wailers‘ ‘Legend‘ (759 weeks), Journey’s greatest hits (740 weeks), Metallica‘s ‘Metallica’ (688 weeks), Creedence Clearwater’s greatest hits (618 weeks), Em’s ‘Call’ (608 weeks), Nirvana‘s ‘Nevermind’ (603 weeks), and Guns N’ Roses’ greatest hits (602 weeks).
