Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal Both Agree About Norman Powell’s Snub

The All-Star Game was never considered to be a “lock” for Norman Powell. If he had, however, made it, it would not have been shocking in the least. Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley said on “Inside the NBA” that they are sorry he didn’t make the cut.

Chuck stated: “A guy like this who has been a really good player for a long time. He’s having a career-year. He’s been the 2nd best player on the Clippers. That team has shocked everybody. I would love to see him get rewarded. I feel bad, but I love Norman Powell,”

Barkley referring to Powell as the Clippers’ “second best player” is the most shocking aspect of this. Fans are not entirely unhappy with “The Beard” getting this accolade, even though they hoped to see the 31-year-old make it. James Harden was selected as an All-Star reserve over Powell.

Despite Kawhi Leonard’s extended absences, Harden has been leading the Clippers’ offense throughout the season.

Shaquille O’Neal “Painfully” agrees with Charles Barkley

Powell, who shoots 43.5% from three-point range and is a fireball from beyond the arc, has been his right-hand man throughout every game.

Barkley’s sentiment was shared by Shaquille O’Neal. He said:  “I would painfully say I have to agree with Chuck. He’s playing excellent basketball. Guys like that should be rewarded. He’s definitely an All-Star in my eyes.”

It should be mentioned that Powell is not negatively impacted when he states that he “painfully” agrees with Charles. This is just a play on their habit of not getting along.

Powell’s ability to get hot and hold it for extended periods of time has always been reminiscent of a microwave scorer. This was demonstrated throughout his tenure with the Trailblazers, but he has produced at extraordinary levels this season that seem out of the blue.
