Ohio Teacher, Stephanie Demetrius Hires Student for $2K to Murder Husband

Before the teen’s mother learned of the murder-for-hire scheme and informed the police, a substitute teacher in Ohio is accused of paying a pupil $2,000 to kill her divorced spouse.

For making the offer to a boy at Columbus’ Academy For Urban Scholars High School, Stephanie Demetrius, 44, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with first-degree conspiracy, according to WSYX.

On March 26, Demetrius went up to a student at the school and offered her $2,000 to kill her soon-to-be ex-husband. The initial down payment for the student was $250 in cash.

Sgt. James Fuqua of the Columbus Division of Police told WSYX: “This particular teacher was attempting to groom this young person into committing murder,”

When the student’s mother found texts between her son and Demetrius on his phone, the scheme was thwarted. The police were subsequently notified of the occurrence by the teen’s mother.

According to Fuqua: “Without their help, some of this might not have come to light,” “This was a situation where a parent was able to capture things inside this young person’s phone and contact authorities.”

During a phone conversation that was recorded between the student and Demetrius, the substitute teacher informed the student that he would be responsible for the remaining amount, claiming that she owed an extra “15.”

According to court documents, the substitute teacher allegedly provided the student with information on her children’s outing times so he could murder her divorced husband, who worked from home, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
