Caitlin Clark deserves all the praise for her collegiate career. In a heartfelt ceremony, the University of Iowa will retire its former player’s jersey on February 2. But according to the former Hawkeyes guard, these accolades highlight a side of her that not many people are aware of.
Clark rose to prominence as the face of women’s college basketball during her four years at Iowa. Her talent set multiple NCAA records, including the most career points overall, and her personality stole the show.
The University of Iowa declared in the middle of December that Clark’s No. 22 jersey would be retired. Thinking back on the event, Clark acknowledged that it will reveal a side of her that she doesn’t typically display.

Caitlin Clark’s emotional side
Clark acknowledged that she is not usually an emotional person in an interview with David Eickholt of 247 Sports, saying: “But I feel like this will probably make me a little more emotional. Now that I’m not actually playing, I feel like I’ll be more emotional even though I’m not a super emotional person.”
The WNBA player thanked the Hawkeyes for the honor and the chance to participate, despite acknowledging her emotional sensitivity.
Clark stated: “I’m just very grateful and thankful to have played at a place that loves women’s basketball the way it does. It has really helped me flourish,”
