Britney Spears Boots Justin Timberlake’s ‘Selfish’ From #1 on WORLDWIDE iTunes After American Sales Push

As if dominating American  iTunes charts wasn’t enough to grab headlines, Britney Spears‘ devoted fans – affectionately called the #BritneyArmy – made toppling the sales success of Justin Timberlake‘s new single ‘Selfish‘ their #1 mission on a global front.

Peruse of the updated Worldwide iTunes chart shows their goal was accomplished.

Timberlake’s long-awaited new single, ‘Selfish,’ may have seemed like it was off to a good after it zoomed to the top of worldwide iTunes sales lists less than 24 hours after its January 25 release.

However, the excitement over the tune (which serves as the lead from his forthcoming album ‘Everything I Thought It Was’) was soon overshadowed by the #BritneyArmy’s plan to galvanize for a unified sales and streaming event of her 2011 ‘Femme Fatale’ song ‘Selfish.’

By late Friday, Brit had not only bumped JT’s new cut from the top of American sales charts but also the iTunes’ video tally.

A peek at the updated Worldwide iTunes sales listing (seen below) shows Spears has leapfrogged over JT’s, making her ‘Selfish’ the best-selling song of the moment despite being nearly 13-years-old.

For context, it’s also outselling the likes of popular modern-day tunes like Jack Harlow‘s ‘Lovin on Me,’ Dua Lipa‘s ‘Houdini,’ and more.

The international commercial boost of Spears’ ‘Selfish’ not only includes sales but also streaming and even radio airplay in some markets – newfound attention that could lead to placement on multiple Billboard charts week after next if the activity is sustained throughout the coming days.
