This weekend has seen Greta Gerwig-directed flick cross the $1 Billion gross mark at the global box office.
It sees the glossy live-action production break a record for female directors that was previously held by Patty Jenkins with ‘Wonder Woman.’
A worldwide phenomenon, ‘Barbie’ – which also stars Issa Rae, Will Ferrell, Ncuti Gatwa, and Dua Lipa– was boosted into the elite list of titles with such an honor thanks to continued touchdowns of towering ticket sales.
Its US success (which has been fuelled by the “Barbieheimer” buz) has been especially noteworthy, with the film drumming up another $53 million this weekend.
