Diddy continues to dominate the news cycle after shocking reports of his arrest on Monday night (September 16).
Formally slammed with charges of racketeering, conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution, the detainment came as the result of an extensive federal investigation and will see the condemned businessman (born Sean Combs) remain in custody until the date of his trial.
And while he maintains his innocence and plead not guilty to the accusations, that hasn’t stopped many of his most vocal critics from singing the praises of the justice system for finally placing the embattled mogul behind bars.
Among those making headlines are his former proteges – Danity Kane stars Dawn Richard and Aubrey O’Day.
As Richard presses forward with her own civil suit against Combs on allegations of brutality, sexual and verbal abuse, false imprisonment, and more, her legal representative – attorney Lisa Bloom – took to the press on her behalf to express the singer’s elation over his arrest.
“We applaud the grand jury’s new indictment of Sean Combs, which is strikingly similar to the federal complaint we filed last week on behalf of our brave client, Dawn Richard,” Lisa Bloom said in a statement to Us Weekly on Tuesday (September 17). “Given the brutal beating of Sean Combs’ girlfriend caught on video and the eight people who have now accused him of abuse in court filings, including Dawn, this arrest seems long overdue.”
Hot on media blitz, Bloom also provided statements to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ (ET), Page Six, and other outlets.
“Dawn wants to be vindicated, she wants her day in court, and she wants to see accountability and justice after what she endured at the hands of Sean Combs. If the prosecutors are able to prove their claims, I think he should be in prison for the rest of his life – and I think he will be,” Lisa told ET in a recent interview before telling Page Six, “…an arrest is only the beginning. May justice be delivered to Mr. Combs. We implore other accusers to come forward in solidarity and join us in this fight.”
The sentiment of justice being served was one echoed by O’Day, who has long been an open critic of Diddy.
“The purpose of Justice is to provide an ending and allow us the space to create a new chapter. Women never get this. I feel validated,” she said on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday. “Today is a win for women all over the world, not just me. Things are finally changing.”
Later chatting it up with TMZ, Aubrey reiterated her stance.
“I never thought I would see this day. We all buried this inside of us in order to be able to keep going. And not just me, but victims you don’t even know yet. We are all processing what that type of vindication can actually feel like now. Every conversation I’ve had with victims last night has been beyond moving on all levels,” she shared.
At the time of his report, Diddy nor his reps have publicly responded to the Danity Kane stars’ criticism.
