Anthony Mackie has made his stance on Jonathan Major‘s ongoing assault case known.

As widely reported, Majors stands accused of assaulting a woman – believed to be his then-lover.

Arrested and charged in March, the rising star is now set to go to trial in August.

Majors has vehemently denied the claims and his legal team assert that the evidence will show that he is “completely innocent” and “provably the victim” in the matter.

With Majors lined up to be a seismic part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the role of Kang the Conqueror (who made his debut in this year’s ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’), other MCU stars are being quizzed on the drama.

Mackie, who is now Captain America and is currently on the press run for new Peacock project ‘Twisted Metal,’ was asked about Majors’ predicament.

Speaking candidly with Inverse, he replied:

“We’re a country that was built on ‘everyone is innocent until proven guilt. That’s one of the staples of this country. Nothing has been proven about this dude. Nothing. So everyone is innocent until proven guilty. That’s all I can say. It’s crazy where we are as a society. But as a country, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.”
