After Turning 40, LeBron James Makes the Audacious Claim

This week, LeBron James celebrated his 40th birthday. He is still the NBA’s face and one of its best players. Although the Los Angeles Lakers player has been questioned about retiring for the past six months, he feels he has a lot of energy left, should he decide to go on.

With the Lakers in fifth place in the Western Conference, James is averaging 23.5 points, 9 assists, and 8.9 rebounds. The King hinted that he may continue to play in the NBA for up to SEVEN more years if he so desired, teasing his millions of fans worldwide.

He informed reporters:  “To be honest, if I really wanted to, I could probably play this game at a high level probably for about another – it’s weird that I might say this – but probably about another five to seven years, if I wanted to.

“But I’m not going to do that.”

LeBron James remains the face of NBA

James is already the NBA’s all-time top scorer, the only player to score 40,000 points, and the second player to play in 22 seasons (after Vince Carter).

In addition to having four titles, four MVP awards, 20 All-Star selections, 20 All-NBA selections, and three Olympic gold medals, he will become the 32nd player to play in his 40s.

To put it succinctly, he has nothing more career left to accomplish. LeBron earlier declared that playing with his son Bronny in an NBA game was his ultimate aim, and he accomplished this on opening night, making history as the first father-son team to do so.

When asked what it’s like to be forty, he said: “I had a decade of the 30s, so to just wake up and just be like, ‘Oh shoot, oh damn, you’re 40?’

“It’s kind of laughable, really, to know where I am, to see where I am still playing the game at a high level, still being such a young man but old in the scheme of how many years I got in this profession.” “You came in as an 18-year-old kid and now you’re sitting here as a 40-year-old, 22-year vet with a 20-year-old in the NBA, as well,” James said Monday. “So, it’s pretty cool.”

Winning an elusive fifth championship is his last source of motivation.
