LeBron James‘s unparalleled lifespan is still being discussed as he approaches his 40th birthday in 2024. James is still averaging 23.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game in his 22nd NBA season.

However, his critics believe that the four-time champion’s continued ascent in the other all-time statistical leaderboards and his continued accumulation of his all-time scoring record are mainly because he has played for too long to break the numbers. That storyline is not one that Gilbert Arenas agrees with.

Arenas stated: Who’s the youngest to 1,000 points? Was it LeBron? Who’s the youngest to 5,000? I’m pretty sure it’s the same LeBron. 10,000? 15,000? 20,000? 25,000? LeBron has been the youngest to every milestone. So, the longevity is wrong. It’s a wrong narrative,”

When James surpassed Kobe’s record of 10,000 points, he was also a year younger. At two years younger, Bron broke Bryant’s milestone record of 15,000 points. Additionally, he needed to play in 117 fewer games than “The Black Mamba” in order to meet the threshold.

In addition, “King James” made Kobe at least a year younger than the previous records for youngest to 20K, 25K, and 30K. The four-time MVP then passed Kobe on the all-time scoring leaderboard on January 5, 2020, at the age of 35, ten months after surpassing MJ. When Kobe retired, he was 37 years old.
