Shedeur Sanders was being considered as a possible No. 1 choice in the 2025 NFL Draft only a few months ago. On the third day of the event, the former quarterback for Colorado was still awaiting his name. The Cleveland Browns’ selection of him at pick No. 144, a startling drop that reportedly lost him upwards of $44 million in predicted earnings, finally put an end to that wait.
A startling notion has now surfaced that attributes Sanders’ sudden decline to a future Hall of Famer.
An insider blames Aaron Rodgers for Shedeur Sanders’ rejection
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ decision to pass on Sanders may have been influenced by Aaron Rodgers, according to NFL analyst Ross Tucker. Tucker hinted that Rodgers, who is reportedly in talks with Pittsburgh for a potential comeback, might have quietly asked the Steelers not to choose Sanders during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show.

Tucker clarified: “Nobody wants the most high-profile player on the team to be the backup QB,”
“I have no proof of this, but I’m convinced Aaron told the Steelers, ‘I’ll come, but don’t take that kid.'”
Even though Rodgers hasn’t signed a contract with the Steelers yet, there have been persistent rumors of a verbal deal during the summer. With the No. 21 pick, Pittsburgh was thought to be Sanders’ likely destination; Sanders had even alluded to the notion before the draft.
The 41-year-old Rodgers has never shied away from dictating the stories surrounding his teams, and if he does play for Pittsburgh, he might have already influenced the team’s destiny.
Sanders is still very much in the spotlight, even though it has somewhat diminished. The fifth-round player now has even more incentive to demonstrate why his name ought to have been called much sooner. The retaliation tour has begun.
