Be it for the good, bad, ugly, or downright shocking, 2022 was full of memorable moments!

Now, as the year draws to a close, That Grape Juice is reflecting on the occasions that rocked – and to some degree – maybe even reshaped the Urban and Pop cultural landscape as we know it.

When it comes to GRAMMY snubs, Jazmine Sullivan and SZA – like Mariah Carey (0-6 during the ‘Daydream‘ era), India.Arie (0-7 during the ‘Acoustic Soul’ era), and Rihanna (0-8 during the ‘Anti‘ era) – are listed among the worst in the show’s 65-year history.

Sullivan, who burst onto the scene in 2008 with her Billboard 200 top 10 album, ‘Fearless,’ entered the 2009 ceremony with five nominations including Best New Artist, but walked away empty-handed.  Like her, SZA (born Solana Rowe) entered the show’s 2018 ceremony with five nominations including Best New Artist for work found aboard her debut album (‘CTRL‘), but walked away empty-handed.

For both acts, 2022 brought restitution.

Jazmine, already enjoying the most critically acclaimed and awarded era of her career to date thanks to 2021's 'Heaux Tales,' continued the streak at this year's GRAMMYs when she walked away with two trophies - Best R&B Performance (tied with Silk Sonic) and Best R&B Album.

The wins came after 15 career nominations.

Elsewhere that night, SZA emerged one of the noteworthy victors thanks to her shared triumph with Doja Cat.

Clawing past the competition in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category with their history-making duet, 'Kiss Me More,' the dynamic duo secured the first wins of their respective careers.
