VIDEO: Cal Football Heap Praises On Trevor Skogerboe For Tackling And Stopping A Fan From Running Away With A Helmet

Talk about a hero in disguise!

Cal Football’s equipment manager, Trevor Skogerboe, came to the rescue in a way nobody expected. During a recent game against Stanford, a daring fan attempted to make a run for it with one of our precious helmets. But little did he know, he was about to be stopped in his tracks by none other than the equipment manager Trevor Skogerboe.

Coach Justin Wilcox couldn’t contain his admiration for Skogerboe’s heroic act. Even though it’s his first season on the staff, the equipment manager showed incredible skill in tackling down the mischievous fan. And it wasn’t just any tackle; Wilcox praised Skogerboe’s technique, giving him high marks for his precision and efficiency.

“The one critique I would have is when we teach tackling on a chase tackle, we really want to secure the tackle and then come over the top violently to separate the runner from the ball,” Wilcox says in the video at the top of this story. “Or in this case, the helmet.

“Other than that, flawless technique by Trevor. He was enforcing one of the beliefs we have as a program: Don’t steal things.

“I think we’d all be a lot better off with more Trevors out there.”

Wilcox joked that all of his players could benefit from watching how Skogerboe accelerated and brought down the would-be thief.

“He’s going on the teach tape, for sure,” Wilcox said. “It’s a good lesson for all: Don’t steal stuff.”

Wilcox shared a video of the moment during a team meeting and Cal’s players responded enthusiastically in support of Skogerboe.

It’s not every day you see an equipment manager stepping up to the plate and saving the day. This incident just goes to show that heroes can come from the most unexpected places. So, let’s give a huge round of applause to Trevor Skogerboe for his quick thinking and bravery. The Cal Football team is lucky to have him.
