Tina Knowles Declares “No More Target” After Superstore Ends Its DEI Initiatives: “Costco, Here I Come”

From defending daughter Beyonce to weighing in on hot social topics, Tina Knowles is no stranger to making headlines for her fiery opinion – a quality that’s landed her in the news cycle again.

This time, the businesswoman-actress-philanthropist has taken aim at superstore Target for being the latest in a slew of major corporations to end its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs to avoid facing intense scrutiny from the Trump administration and its conservative supporters.

On Friday (January 24), Target – following similar reports from Amazon, Walmart, Meta, and others – announced intent to axe its DEI policies after President Donald Trump directed federal agencies (and urged private companies) to roll back such initiatives in an effort to end “illegal DEI discrimination and preferences.”

What’s more, the company also revealed they are ending their Racial Equity Action and Change (REACH) program this year after first announcing they would use the venture to invest over $2 billion with Black-owned businesses by the end of 2025 and add more than 500 Black-owned brands to its shelves to increase their exposure.

Once the news landed on Tina’s desk, she quickly took to social media to sound off.

“So, y’all bowed down and kissed the ring?” she captioned a photo of a CNN story about the controversial topic. “Crossing you off my list! No more Target!

Before she edited the caption, the full quote saw her announce intent to boycott the superstore in favor of its big-box competitor and encourage her fans to do the same.

“Costco, here I come,” she told her 4.1 million followers on the platform. “[They’re] cheaper anyway! Get your Costco membership today!”

At writing, Target is one of many retailers with Knowles’ highly anticipated memoir ‘Matriarch‘ on its shelves set for pre-order ahead of its April 15 release.

As of time of this report the company has not responded to Tina’s comments nor indicated any intent to cut the book from its site and stores.
