Just a year after legendary TV and stage star Sheryl Lee Ralph became only the second Black woman in the EMMYs’ 75-year history to capture the Best Supporting Actress (Comedy) trophy, a third history-making entrant has joined the ranks: Ayo Edebiri!

Defeating Ralph, Janelle James, Hannah Waddingham, Jessica Williams, and Alex Borstein for the trophy, ‘The Bear’ actress won the award nearly 40 years after Jackee Harry became the first Black woman to triumph in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy category in 1987.

The first EMMY victory of her career, the win comes just a week after she captured a similarly billed Golden Globe.
