Terrence Howard is no stranger to making headlines, and his latest sit-down with Bill Maher is stirring the pot once again.

During his appearance on Club Random,’ the Oscar-nominated actor revealed his biggest career regret — passing on the chance to play Smokey Robinson in a biopic. Why? He was tied up preparing for a Marvin Gaye project that never even materialized.

Howard claimed he walked away from the Gaye project after a visit to Quincy Jones’ home, where he alleges he was told Gaye was homosexual. Howard said he couldn’t commit to a role that would require him to portray a same-sex relationship, including kissing another man, to which he stated:

“They would’ve wanted to do that and I wouldn’t have been able to do that. No, ’cause I don’t fake it. I would cut my lips off. […] That’s fine, do what you love to do, but don’t aim it at me. And I can’t play that character 100 percent. I can’t surrender myself to a place that I don’t understand.”

Maher stepped in to steer the conversation away from homophobic assumptions, framing it around authenticity in acting. With a new podcast promising even more Hollywood bombshells, it’s clear Howard is just getting started with the revelations.
