Stampede at GloRilla Concert Leaves 2 Dead, Multiple Injured

Hip-Hop fans in Rochester, New York were rocked over the weekend by reports of a stampede at a GloRilla concert that left two people dead and others injured.

Details inside.

Rochester’s Main Street Armory (pictured above) was the site of a concert of GRAMMY-nominated rapper GloRilla Sunday night (March 5) when reports of gunfire caused the large crowd to push toward the exits – with mayhem ensuing in the process.

The Rochester Police Department said they have not confirmed if gunshots were actually fired.

Two women were killed due to the stampede; 33-year-old Rhondesia Belton (pronounced dead at a local hospital early Monday morning) and an unidentified 35-year-old woman (who died from her injuries later Monday night). As of time reported, another unidentified 35-year-old woman is in critical condition.

Seven others were brought in private vehicles to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police confirmed.  It’s believed there were several other injuries that went unreported.

Mayor Malik Evans called the fatal stampede “totally unacceptable” and assured Rochester residents a thorough investigation into whether venue operators had exceeded its 5,000-person capacity and if the necessary safety measures were in place for attendees.

“We are going to hold people accountable for what happened last night, period,” Evans shared in a statement. “I intend to get to the bottom of this.”

GloRilla has not formally responded to the matter, but late Sunday night she did tweet her well-wishes to those impacted.
