Shedeur Sanders Has His Say on “Patting” of Football

Shedeur Sanders‘s practice of stroking the football before throwing a pass drew criticism during his throwing session at the Colorado Buffaloes’ pro day last week. In front of representatives from all 32 teams, Sanders had the opportunity to demonstrate his accuracy and deep ball, but his patting of the football was the primary topic that emerged from the pro day.

Safety of the New York Jets One of the first people to point up Sanders’ propensity to pat the ball was Andre Cisco. Cisco wrote, “Boy better stop patting that ball, we breakin onnat earlyyyy,” on X.

Even Dallas Cowboys defender Micah Parsons and New York Giants receiver Darius Slayton argued about Sanders’ patting of the football on social media, turning it into a heated argument. On NFL media shows, patting the football became a popular topic. While some defended Sanders, others discovered that the behavior could work against him.

Shedeur Sanders addressed the controversy surrounding the patting of football

During an interview on the Up & Adams Show on Thursday, Sanders addressed the rumors that he patted the football.

Kay Adams was informed by Sanders: “Me patting made me have success this far,” . “Me patting the ball got me to the position I am now. I don’t see what’s wrong.” “For me, things can be a problem,”. “For other people, it’s not a problem. They always move the goal posts for me so that’s why mentally, you’ve got to be tough with everything that there is because you can never seek validation or happiness through the outside people. You’ve got to find that within yourself and you’ve got to just not really care about what nobody else is saying.”

Sanders stated that he is by no means the only quarterback to have patted the ball and that it does not necessarily raise concerns for other quarterbacks. Sanders is aware that he has been scrutinized much more than the typical quarterback prospect in the first round.
