One of the most well-known athletes in NBA history, Shaquille O’Neal, has a significant portfolio of endorsement deals and investments. In addition to opening his own fast-food restaurant, Big Chicken, in 2018, the four-time NBA champion has served as the face of other well-known brands throughout the years.
To just a few, he has endorsement agreements with Reebok, Epson, Papa John’s, and Carnival Cruises. However, is it accurate to say that he rejected a $50 million offer from McDonald’s for a trivial reason? That was recently addressed by O’Neal.
In an interview with Ashley Nevel, O’Neal was asked to confirm or deny stories about his playing days by selecting between the words “cap” and “check.”
McDonald’s was Shaq’s first choice as he bulked up with the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers. He occasionally stopped by twice, even on game days.
In a previous interview, he stated: “I used to wake up, have McDonald’s for breakfast, have McDonald’s for lunch, play a game, and then go to a restaurant,” “I worked at McDonald’s for one day,”. “When I was a youngster, my father said, ‘You babysit your siblings or you go to work.’ I said, ‘I’m not babysitting no kids.’ I went to work one day and I was like, ‘I quit.’”
He confessed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he really worked there for one day when he was younger, which may be the reason for his affection for the famous eatery.
