Saweetie Claps Back at “Hate Parade” Mocking Her 2000 Sales: “I Must Be That B*tch”

Saweetie is hitting back at the sour response to sales of her new EP ‘The Single Life.’

Announced with less than a day’s notice, the six-track set arrived as a bridge of sorts to the rapper’s long-awaited album debut ‘Pretty B*tch Music.’

As can be the case with “surprise” sets (and similar), it appears the lack of heads-up may have been the cause of the project’s less-than-stellar sales. Indeed, it’s believed the project only shifted 2000 units in the US first week.

The numbers (or lack thereof) sparked debut in earnest on social media – with everyone from fans to Joe Budden to fellow artists weighing in.

Now, Saweetie is offering her two cents.

Taking to Twitter, the femcee wrote:

“hate parade… i must be that b*tch!!!????”

She added:

“i make music for pretty bitches! if you can’t relate i understand ????????‍♀️????”

The whole situation is incredibly embarrassing for all involved and it’s clear Saweetie is attempting to save face. No one, especially an artist with her profile and portfolio of previous hits wants any kind of proximity to numbers like these. So, yes, there is a problem, a disconnect, a…something. 

However…

For yours truly, folk are doing a touch too much.

Here at That Grape Juice, we crunch numbers like this week in and week out (see: Chart Check); in today’s streaming climate, many an artist (known and new) are selling equally as dismal numbers. Optically speaking, it feels as though Saweetie is an easy target to pile on for those who didn’t care for her musically to begin with.
