RIAA: Rihanna’s ‘Anti’ Ties ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ As Her Highest-Certified Albums Yet

Rihanna‘s 2016 album, ‘Anti,’ may have started its narrative as a critical polarizer but it went on to become one of the most celebrated studio efforts of the decade.

Still listed on the Billboard 200 weekly (#81 on the chart’s most recent edition), the ‘Work‘-led project is printed in history books for being the first LP by a Black female artist to enjoy a tenancy on the tally longer than 350 weeks.

Nearly six months after touching that unprecedented milestone, ‘Anti’ is still finding new commercial success posts to cross.

See what we mean inside.

Taking to press Tuesday (June 13), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced ‘Anti’ had zoomed past its threshold for 6x Platinum status – meaning it’s sold the equivalence of 6 million units in the United States alone.

Marking a personal milestone for the Bajan diva, the upgrade comes as her second project to be certified as high (following 2007’s ‘Good Girl Gone Bad‘ which also sits at 6x Platinum).  Together, the LPs help push Rih’s Stateside cumulative album sales to 27 million.

The news comes just months after ‘Anti’ singles ‘Work,’ ‘Needed Me,’ ‘Love on the Brain,’ and ‘Kiss It Better’ were all elevated to 9x Platinum, 8x Platinum, 6x Platinum, and 3x Platinum status respectively – extending her reign as the best-selling female artist in the history of digital singles.

Her continued domination of streaming and digital download platforms is yet another signal her dedicated fans, affectionately called the #Navy, are clinging to hits of yesteryear in preparation for new music.  The diva’s pregnancy, however, will likely have them waiting even longer than previously expected.
