‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ star Mia Thornton has surprised fans by announcing that she and her husband of 11 years Gordon Thornton are separated.

In a statement to PEOPLE, the 38-year-old said of her split from her 70-year-old hubby:
“Like all marriages, ours has had its ups and downs. At this time, Gordon and I are separated, but my family is my number one priority, and I am committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure we are okay.
We ask that you respect our privacy and give us the time and space to figure things out.”
Mia’s request for “privacy” will likely raise eyebrows, given that the announcement comes just one day after the trailer reveal for ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ season 8.
Within the three-minute teaser, viewers see Mia and Gordon – who share two children together – navigating the aftermath of a major business mishap. Mia is notably seen sharing with the group that she had retained a divorce lawyer.
Suffice it to say, it’s clear that the drama with The Gordons is set to play out during RHOP’s latest chapter when it returns to Bravo on November 5 at 8/7c
