Nick Wright Calls George Pickens of the Cowboys An “Overrated” Player

The Dallas Cowboys were able to make a big impression in free agency for the first time in what seems like an eternity. Former Pittsburgh Steeler and second-round draft pick George Pickens now projects as the third option in an offense that includes Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb in return for a 2026 third-round pick.

The move, which gives the Cowboys some much-needed relief to an offense that was otherwise severely short-staffed, comes only a few weeks after the team elected not to select a wide receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft. Analysts are now speculating, meanwhile, that the move might not be the huge hit Dallas was hoping for.

Nick Wright opens up on George Pickens trade

The always contentious Nick Wright speculated that the Cowboys chose the wrong horse in Pickens during his most recent appearance on The Colin Cowherd Podcast.

“I think George Pickens is one of the more overrated players in the whole league… Talent has become wildly overrated and particularly in the NFL… This idea that talent is some cure all, when this guy has been a pain in the ass every step of his football life… [Pickens] is not a serious person and he’s not going to contribute to winning.”

The host with the title found himself agreeing, implying that Pickens’ inclusion is a fairly naive attempt to discover some immediate value. The trade appears to be on brand, especially considering Jones’ image as a contrarian.

Cowherd claims that the trade is more a reflection of the owner’s frugal practices and savior complex than anything else.
