Mike Budenholzer Asking Bradley Beal To Play Like Jrue Holiday ‘Fueled’ His Firing As Suns Coach

A lot led to Mike Budenholzer’s firing as the Suns’ coach. Reports say he asked Bradley Beal to play like Jrue Holiday during a game, and that didn’t sit too well with the player, which created some friction between them.

Now, we all know coaches are always trying to motivate their players and get them to perform at their best. But asking one player to play like another? That’s a bold move. And apparently, it didn’t end well for Budenholzer.

According to recent reports, Suns star shooting guard Bradley Beal was not satisfied with the role assigned to him by the Budenholzer. The latter asked Beal to adopt Jrue Holiday’s defensive and primary playmaking roles. Now, it seems that Budenholzer’s comparison tactics created friction between him and the Sun’s shooting guard.

Mike Budenholzer, who led the Milwaukee Bucks to win the NBA 2020-21 championship before joining the Suns, often had strange comparing tactics to bring the best out of the player. However, it seems Bradley Beal didn’t take it as a positive and did not sit well with the idea of him becoming like Jrue Holiday.

Despite the high expectations and the best roster, the Suns did not do anything major this season. Following an unforgettable 4-0 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, they fired Frank Vogel and replaced him with Mike Budenholzer. However, just after another bad season, where they couldn’t even qualify for the playoffs, they fired the latter too.

Either way, it’s always interesting to hear about these behind-the-scenes stories in the world of sports. Who knows what happened? All I can say is, let’s hope Bradley Beal doesn’t take this the wrong way. After all, Jrue Holiday is an amazing player, and any comparison to him should be seen as a compliment.
