President Donald Trump is claiming that TikTok could be on the cusp of being acquired by Microsoft.

The freshly elected U.S. president told reporters that the tech giant is in advanced conversations with TikTok to acquire it.

As reported, the app (which is owned by China’s ByteDance) was momentarily banned in the U.S. after a legal wrangling regarding its ownership. It was back online after Trump took office on January 20.

Microsoft first expressed interest in acquiring TikTok in 2020.

Speaking on the process of trying to acquire TikTok at that time, CEO Satya Nadella said it was “the strangest thing I’ve ever worked on.”

Whatever the case, it appears movement is imminent.

For, Trump has shared that decision is likely within the next 30 days.
